DIDACTIC UNIT I.- INTRODUCTION. STATIC PROPERTIES OF THE SECTION.
LAWS AND DIAGRAMS OF EFFORT
TOPIC 1. INTRODUCTION AND FUNDAMENTAL CONCEPTS: Historical evolution. Object of the Elasticity and Resistance of Materials. Theoretical solid model. Mechanical Prism. Types internal requests. efforts. Concept of Stress and Deformation. Hypotheses and principles of application in Resistance of Materials. Behavior of real solids, Hooke's Law.
TOPIC 2. STATIC PROPERTIES OF THE SECTION: Centroids. Moments of inertia. Inertia products. Parallel axes theorem. Polar moments of inertia. Rotation of axes. Main axes and main moments of inertia.
TOPIC 3. LAWS AND STRESS DIAGRAMS: Bar model, degrees of freedom, supports and knots. Isostatic and hyperstatic systems. Balance of a bar. Laws of efforts and diagrams.

DIDACTIC UNIT II.- STUDY OF THE SECTION and DEFORMATIONS DUE TO BENDING
TOPIC 4. AXIL STRENGTH: Introduction. Tensions. Checking and sizing sections. Stresses on inclined sections. Deformations. Structures reticulated loaded in knots. Hyperstatic systems subjected to axial stress. Thermal effects and previous deformations.
TOPIC 5. PURE SYMMETRIC FLEXION: Introduction. Definition of pure bending. Stresses due to bending, Navier's Law. Neutral axis. Resistant module. Checking and sizing.
TOPIC 6. SIMPLE SYMMETRIC FLEXION: Introduction. Definition of simple flexion. Simple bending stresses in full section profiles. Checking and dimensioning of sections.
TOPIC 7. COMPOUND FLEXION AND DEVIATED FLEXION: Introduction. Definitions of compound flexion and deviated flexion. Stresses in compound flexion and flexion deviated Checking and sizing of sections.
UNIT 8. DEFORMATIONS DUE TO FLEXING: Introduction. Equations elastic curve differentials
