Objectives:
This course deals with services deployed on network infrastructures connected to the Internet. It presents elementary services from their concepts and protocol design principles to reference implementations.
Learning Outcomes
-understanding and mastering the functionalities offered by the high protocol layers (transport, session and presentation) and knowing the current protocols that implement them (e.g. TCP, UDP, SIP, ASN.1 and XML)
-know and understand the basic services in networks (name resolution, directories, web, administration)
-implement the basic functions of network services on reference implementations (Bind, OpenLDAP, Net-SNMP)
-be familiar with cloud service production technologies and know how to deploy a service in a virtualised environment
-Understand IETF standardisation through a project carried out in pairs.
