Students work in small groups on projects covering a variety of topics in the field of recycling management and waste technology.
Possible project focuses include
- Waste management concepts and feasibility studies
- Basic engineering of technical facilities (e.g. recycling plants, composting plants, biogas plants)
- Analysis and optimisation of existing plants with regard to material flows and energy consumption
Essential work steps
- Determination of legislative constraints (e.g. collection and recycling quotas, emission requirements)
- Collection of basic data (e.g. volume and composition as well as forecasts of future developments)
- Carrying out mass and energy balances
- Determining costs (investment, operation)
- Preparing project documentation (text version/report, calculations, plans, etc.)
