Description
Objectives
The Strategic Business Management course provides the basic concepts necessary for analysis, understanding and interpreting strategic business management, competitive business structures, profitability/attractiveness of sectors and business strategies according to business and commercial areas. Moreover, theoretical paradigms referring to Swot analysis, evolutionary sector analysis, competitors analysis and Porter’s analysis of competitors will be studied in depth.

Course program
The course is divided into five parts focused on specific topics.

INTRODUCTION TO COMPANY STRATEGY: 
  •  The concept of strategy. 

STRATEGIC ANALYSIS INSTRUMENTS: 
  • Objectives values and results of strategic analysis;
  • Sector Analysis;
  • From sector analysis to analysis of competitors;
  • Resources and skills as the basis of strategy;
  • Development of resources and skills;
  • Analysis of organizational forms and directional systems: the foundations of strategic implementation. 

ANALYSIS OF COMPETITIVE ADVANTAGE:
  • The nature and sources of competitive advantage;
  • Cost advantage;
  • advantage of differentiation. 

BUSINESS STRATEGIES IN DIFFERENT COMPETITIVE CONTEXTS:
  • The evolution of the sector and the strategic changes;
  • Technology and Innovation Management;
  • Competitive advantage in mature industries. 

GROUP STRATEGIES. 
  • analysis of vertical integration; 
  • Global Strategies and Multinational Enterprises;
  • Diversification strategy;
  • Group strategy application: the management of diversified companies;
  • Current trends in strategic management.
