• Demographic phenomena and the equation of the population;
• Census and main demographic surveys;
• Demographic structure indicators and the "Pyramid of the ages"; 
• The "social indexes": some concepts and categories. Empirical representation of the "demographic transition";
• The Italian demographic situation: low birth level and ageing of the population; 
• Structure and demographic ageing: main definitions and indexes;
• 'Standardization' of mortality quotients;
• The lexis diagram;
• The 'mortality table': analytic and synthetic indexes;
• The concept of 'fertility' and its measures;
• The 'Cohort-components' equations and the demographic forecasts.
