The course combines a rigorous theoretical approach with the discussion of cases, simulations and exercises that enable students to gain a solid understanding of the complexities of modern organizations, with a particular emphasis on the specificities of organizations operating in an international context. These are the main topics that will be addressed during the module:
- differentiation, integration, centralization, standardization, authority and control; typologies and properties of basic organizational structures;
- international firms models;
- coordination models and mechanisms;
- management of human work and practices;
- social networks properties and influence;
- social network analysis (including basics of UCINET and/or Gephi);
- conflict resolution and alignment of individual interests; management of power structures;
- organizational culture;
- the role of national culture;
- organizational change.
