Upon completion of the course, students will have acquired a thorough understanding of the fundamental tools of univariate and bivariate descriptive statistics and inference. They will be able to calculate key statistical indices, make predictions (under certain conditions), and assess the significance of an estimate.
Course Program
DESCRIPTIVE STATISTICS: measures of location, variability, mutual variability and shape. Bivariate descriptive statistics: measure of dependence between two categorical variables, conditional independece, linear correlation. Probability theory Random variables: principal univariate distributions and density functions.
STATISTICAL INFERENCE: Estimation methods, Sampling distribution, Hypothesis testing, Confidence intervals. Simple linear regression model: point estimates and testing.
