Description
Human Resource Management is the broad study of human and social aspects of work, organization and personnel in modern organizations. Attention is given not only to scientific analysis, but also to the applicability of scientific knowledge in practical situations. Designed for those students with limited or no knowledge of human resource management, the course is designed to help students develop an understanding of how human resource decisions contribute to business performance. Through the use of readings, lectures, group presentations and real-world case studies, students will be able to understand and to analyse basic issues related to recruitment, selection, and retention practices, managing at-will employees, evaluating performance, employee development, compensation regulations designed to assure economic security and standards in the work environment, and an introduction to labour relations.
