Communications:
One to one communication: attitudes and expectations: Communication and culture. Active lsitening. Barriers to communication, non-verbal communication.
Presentation:
Giving a presentation, public speaking, audience, task, preparation, organisation of material, presentation skills, visual aids, graphical communications, pie chart, histograms, handling questions.
Meetings:
Committees and meetings: participants, representative, delegate, observer, consultant, secretary, minute taker, Chair. What can go wrong? Handling conflict.
Writing Skills: Structured engineering reports
Social & Business:
Introduction to marketing, money, manpower. Sources of Irish Law, the Courts. Introduction to world of business with hands on experience of preparing accounts.
Design:
Brief history of design, the changing nature of design, special considerations in design. Quality and responsibility in the design process.
