This module will allow students to undertake a deep-dive research and conceptualisation project within a guided environment and apply this learning in the development of research assets and portfolio output. The module will provide students with the knowledge required to understand a specific sector's current state of the art within the Product Development Discipline whilst allowing enhanced teaching experiences amongst the class through peer-to-peer learning.
Design projects are specific within a discipline area and whilst broad, cross-cutting thematic research projects should be undertaken e.g.
- Design a family of seating products that suit a modern commercial office environment
- Redesign a medical device for use in a non-clinical setting.
- Implement machine learning on an existing consumer product.
