Description

Objectives

The aim of this course is to examine the basic concepts of electromagnetism and to provide the necessary knowledge to the analysis of optical and microwave systems.

Course program

Maxwell's equations and constitutive relations. Geometrical Optics and its application to simple electromagnetic propagation and radiation problems. Overview on optical fibers. Numerical methods in electromagnetics: Method of Moments, ray tracing.
