Description
AIMS AND OBJECTIVES OF THE COURSE: Upon completion of the course, students will develop a scientific approach to studying the material world and will acquire basic skills necessary to apply the theoretical apparatus to solve practical problems. The acquired theoretical and experimental skills will be useful for all engineering disciplines encountered in the course of study.
DESCRIPTION OF THE COURSE: Main topics: ELECTROMAGNETISM: Electric current; Simple DC circuits; Sources of magnetic field; Magnetic force; Electromagnetic induction; OSCILLATIONS AND WAVES: Oscillations; Waves; Electromagnetic waves; Wave optics; MODERN PHYSICS: Quantum optics; Bohr model; Multi-electron atoms; Fundamentals of quantum mechanics.
