The study course complements the preliminary knowledge about the role of engineering materials in various branches of the national economy. The regularities between materials and their alloys have been studied. The most frequently used materials in the technique - Fe-C alloys - are examined in-depth. The heat treatment and material strengthening technologies are analysed as well. The study course, based on valid European norms, provides prior knowledge of groups of commonly used materials and their markings Within the course, the students are familiarized with the basic principles of material processing technologies and their regularities.
