Thermic, energitic and thermodynamic machines
PHYS04

Description
In engineering, thermodynamic properties concern materials, devices, and machines that produce or exploit energy such as transportation systems, transformation systems, heating systems, and cooling systems.

Program:

  • Understand the concept of an equation of state and know how to construct one for a gas.
  • Understand the concept of internal energy, determine the work done by forces, and the quantities of heat exchanged for simple evolutions of closed systems.
  • Identify the different forms of heat exchange and apply elementary laws and associated equations (conduction, convection, radiation).
  • Understand the concept of entropy and the operation of thermodynamic machines.
  • Study engine and generator cycles and calculate their efficiency.
