Building, Technology, Structures 4 (History of Building)

Description
The aim of the Building Technology Structures IV module is to ensure that the student can demonstrate an introductory knowledge of architectural conservation, traditional building techniques, and structures and their relationship to contemporary building techniques. The Building Technology module will encourage the learner to explore in detail the history of tectonics and construction. Learners will demonstrate an introductory knowledge of the theory and principles of architectural conservation. The course will give students the ability to respond to architectural, historical, and material heritage precedents in appropriate ways. The module will include historical and contemporary structural methods, construction methodologies and buildings. These historic and conservation elements will be combined with the learning outcomes of the pre-requisite BTS modules allowing students to demonstrate their understanding of the synthesis of these elements, components, and systems into a contemporary functioning whole.
