Stress Analysis
MEM_414

Description
The main objective of the course is the correlation between the external loadings applied to a structure and the internal stresses, strains, deformations and strain energy that develop as a consequence. Topics that will be covered include general state of stress, equilibrium equations, stress-strain-temperature relationships, plane stress, axisymmetric stress, thick pressure vessels, rotating disks, bending of rectangular and circular plates, torsion of members with non-circular cross-section, asymmetric bending, strain energy and Castigliano´s theorems, failure theories, buckling, etc.
