Electrical actuator

Description
To know, understand, and learn to use different types of electromagnetic or piezoelectric actuators employed, for example, to design automated production systems or robots, you should:

  • Understand the physical principles underlying electromagnetic actuators and the associated phenomena.
  • Know how to use manufacturers' specifications to calculate the evolution of mechanical, electrical, and thermal quantities.
  • Be able to draft a specification sheet for the implementation of an actuator, including its power supply and control.
  • Understand simplified models of actuators and be able to identify model parameters from manufacturer specifications or experimental measurements.
  • Be capable of proposing non-standard operating modes for given actuators.
  • Know how to implement digital control systems to control actuators.
