The module aims to introduce and reinforce strength of materials to the students in order to analyse stresses and strains in elastic, elasto-plastic and perfectly plastic homogeneous and composite structural elements under different load configurations.
· To recognize basic principles for the constitutive laws and mechanical properties of deformable materials and apply them to calculate stress and strain
· To assess different mechanical models and make the relevant assumptions to analyse them
To evaluate different section properties of homogeneous and composite sections.
