Geodesy I
CIV_131

Description
The main objective of this module is the introduction of undergraduate students in the fundamental concepts of geodesy and surveying through learning activities on Reference Surfaces, Coordinate Reference Systems, basic mathematical computations for position fixing, levelling techniques and Error Theory fundamentals.
·       Understanding fundamental principles of Geodesy and Surveying.
·       Identification of basic methods and techniques needed to carry out levelling and field measurement projects.
·       Ability to distinguish between different coordinate reference systems and choose the most appropriate to carry out basic surveying works (levelling and surveying fields).
Understanding fundamental statistical measures and indices that characterize the accuracy of angular and linear measurement sets.
