The objectives of the course are to understand the concepts and methods of statistical data analysis, including measures of central trends variance, modeling with probability distributions, understanding and modeling of correlations, estimations and confidence intervals.
Upon successful completion of the course students are expected to be able to: 1. Understand the methodology for collecting statistical data, analyzing central trend and dispersion measures and their interpretation 2. Understand the features and applicability of basic discrete and continuous variable probability distributions (binomial, Poisson, regular) to real problems 3. estimate the mean sample value by applying the appropriate distribution and derive the estimate confidence interval, and understand its interpretation 4. Understand and apply hypothesis testing methodology to real problems 5. understand and apply the concept of contingency table
