Engineering Geology

Description
The aim of the course is for students to obtain fundamental knowledge of the basic characteristics and parameters of soils and rocks as well as basic knowledge of the structure and evolution of the earth and in particular of Cyprus. 
Upon successful completion of the course, students are expected to be able to: 1. know about the structure and historical evolution of the earth, and in particular the Geology of Cyprus, 2. recognize the basic characteristics and parameters of soil and be able to classify the soil. 3. distinguish and describe fractures, faults, joints and the shear strength of rock mass. 4. study the slope stability of rock slopes 5. develop and explain landslide measures  6. retrieve topographical, geological, hydrogeological and soil suitability maps.
