Photonic Technologies and Applications
504104005

Description
At the end of the training program, the student must be able to:
Know the basic concepts related to optical communications systems: historical evolution and future trends, network architectures, detection process and link parameters.
Develop the ability to solve problems related to the design, feasibility and quality of photonic systems. Interpret the results derived from said resolution and apply appropriate corrections when necessary.
Analyze and understand the different optical network implementation systems, with their advantages, disadvantages and applications.
Know the characteristics of current WDM systems, simple and advanced optical components.
Understand nonlinear effects in optical fibers.
Know the main instrumentation and measurement techniques of optical communications parameters.
Analyze the emission characteristics of the multimode laser in its different modes of operation.
Know manufacturing techniques, types of optical cables, connectors and splices.
Understand the operation of different computer tools aimed at analyzing various aspects of an optical communications link and its components.
Obtain appropriate conclusions about the results obtained through computer tools, identifying significant parameters and their influence on the quality and capacity of a link based on fiber optics.
