I ELASTICITY
1. FUNDAMENTALS OF ELASTICITY.
Introduction; Concept of stress; Components of stress vector; Principal stresses; plane stress state; Mohr circles; Concept of strain; Constitutive relationships; Hooke's law for linear elastic and isotropic materials. Strength, stiffness and ductility concepts.
2. PLASTICITY AND FAILURE CRITERION.
Introduction: Yield Surfaces; Von Mises Criterion; Tresca Criterion;

II. AXIAL, SHEAR-FORCES AND BENDING MOMENTS DIAGRAMS.
3. FUNDAMENTALS OF MECHANICS OF MATERIALS. 
Introduction; Prismatic beam model; Types of supports and connections; determined and indeterminated structures; External and Internal forces; Equilibrium equations; Axial, shear and bending moments diagrams
4. DEFORMATIONS DUE TO BENDING:
Introduction. Differential equation of the elastic curve. Mohr Theorems. Theorems of Virtual Forces.

III STRES DISTRIBUTION WITHIN THE CROSS-SECTION AND DEFLECTION OF BEAMS
5 AXIAL FORCE. 
Stresses due to axial loads; Indeterminate truss structures subjected to axial forces; sometidos a esfuerzo axial; Thermal effects; Mismatch effects and initial deformations.
6. PURE AND BIAXIAL BENDING. 
Pure bending; normal stress due to pure bending; Navier's formula; biaxial bending; neutral axis; bending resistance module
7. ECCENTRIC AXIAL LOADING AND UNSYMMETRIC BENDING. 
Introduction. Definition of eccentric axial loading and unsymmetric bending. Stress in eccentric axial loading and unsymmetric bending. Design and verification.
8. SIMPLE BENDING: 
Introduction. Definition of simple bending. Stress in simple bending. Shear stress in thin-walled members. Design and verification.
9 TORSION: 
Introduction. Elementary Theory of torsion of circular section prisms. Determining Torques. Torsion prisms non-circular section.
10. BUCKLING: 
Introduction. Stability. Problem of Euler. Dependence of the critical force and the support conditions of the bar. Scope of applications of Euler's formula. Eccentric Composition of a slender bar. Methods for calculating compressed bars buckling.
