Description
Learning objectives:
Students acquire the skills needed to understand important concepts and structures of analysis and stochastics for higher-level computer science courses. They learn basic mathematical working methods and skills. They will be able to apply mathematical methods from analysis and stochastics to solve problems.
Course content:
  • Sequences, series
  • Continuous functions, important function classes, including exponential and trigonometric functions
  • Differential and integral calculus for functions of a real variable
  • Interpolation and approximation: polynomial interpolation according to Newton
  • Descriptive statistics
  • Probabilities and stochastic independence
  • Random variables and their moments
  • Special probability distributions
  • Testing hypotheses
  • Linear regression
