The module is aimed at students in the third year of an honours degree program in computing. Previously students will have demonstrated proficiency in software development skills using a variety of development tools, development platforms, software design, and methodologies. In addition to this, students will have developed system administration skills in Unix/Linux fundamentals. The module will bring together these skills to introduce the concept of DevOps. The DevOps methodology recognises the interdependence between these skills and the need for them to work together. This module is intended to build on these proficiencies and to take the student’s development skills to a more practical level. The module will introduce important concepts of the DevOps process as well as the tools needed for effective implementation.
