The course aims to provide the knowledge and skills required for a modern electrical engineer involved in applications related to smart measurement systems for sustainability, as well as sustainable, safe, and connected mobility.
The course seeks to enhance design skills, enabling students to design modern smart measurement systems based on sensors and data acquisition systems connected via wired and wireless networks.
Specifically, the course aims to: a) enable students to characterize sensors, define their performance, and use them in data acquisition systems; b) design, use, and characterize automated measurement systems, taking into account the performance of sensors and signal conditioning circuits; c) implement both wired and wireless distributed measurement systems; d) implement supervision and monitoring systems.
The course also aims to provide fundamentals related to the most common interfacing technologies (wired and wireless) used in industrial environments, as well as essential knowledge regarding the most widespread industrial technologies for building distributed measurement systems.
Additional learning objectives include developing teamwork skills, problem-solving capabilities, and the ability to present project ideas effectively.
