Construction Technology I - for roads and bridges

Description
Lecture
  • Site plan, longitudinal profile, and cross-sections of a transport route (road). 
  •  Execution of earthworks: excavations, embankments/fills, and material transport. 
  •  Construction of capping layers and road foundation/subbase layers. 
  •  Execution of road base layers: materials and construction procedures. 
  •  Execution of asphalt layers. 
  •  Formwork execution technology: types of formwork and formwork calculation/design. 
  •  Reinforcement technology for structural construction elements. 
  •  Concrete execution technology: placing/pouring concrete. 
  •  Technology for carrying out earthwork stabilization using elements with shallow/direct foundations. 
  •  Earthwork stabilization using indirectly founded elements: micropiles and large-diameter piles. 
  •  Technology for stabilizing earthworks with reinforced soil. 
  •  Technology for constructing surface rainwater collection and drainage systems. 
  •  Technology for collecting and draining infiltration water. 
  •  Technologies for constructing prefabricated culverts.

Lab hours:
  • Calculation of earthwork volumes for the construction of 1.5 km of road (2 sessions). 
  • Description of the execution technology and determination of quantities for 50 linear meters of a gravity retaining wall made of concrete (2 sessions). 
  • Calculation of material quantities, type of equipment and number of machines required, and description of the execution technology for a DD5 prefabricated culvert, L = 5.0 m (2 sessions). 
  • Submission and presentation/defense of projects (1 session)
