The course provides an insight into the basic structures of national environmental law on the basis of the relevant regulations for industrial plants. The course covers the objectives and structures of national environmental law, including the constitutional foundations, the governance levels of legislation (international law, European law, national law (federal law, state law, municipal law)), environmental information law, plant licensing law under the Federal Immission Control Act (with references to water law, environmental services law and planning law), private environmental law (liability for environmental damage) and environmental criminal law.
