SOLID WASTE AND REMEDIATION OF CONTAMINATED SITES

Description
To provide the elements to address the technical aspects of the management and treatment of municipal solid waste: Knowledge of the characteristics of waste Knowledge of EU and Italian legislation on waste Setting up of integrated waste management schemes and plans Design of treatment and disposal plants Assessment and control of the environmental impacts of waste treatment plants. Regarding the soil remediation, the course aims at giving the basic tools to address the issue of contaminated sites, with particular reference to chemical pollution. The topics covered include the behavior of chemicals in soils, groundwater, and sediments, the environmental characterization, risk analysis and remediation techniques.
