Science for Bioengineers 1
BIOM H1002

Description
This module covers fundamental principles of engineering units, measurement and core scientific and engineering concepts of motion, force and pressure.

Units and measurement: The fundamental principles of engineering units will be covered along with measurement techniques, repeatability, uncertainty, and error calculation.

Mass, Density and Force: The core engineering principles of mass, density, force and weight including gravity will be explained. Calculations of force, density and momentum will be performed.

Laws of motion: Linear motion will be explained and problems in the areas of speed, displacement, velocity and acceleration will be performed.

Pressure: Boyle's Law, Pascal's Law and Archimedes Principle will be explained with a view to analysing fluid behavior. Pressure measurement, atmospheric pressure and fluid pressure will be covered and calculations in these areas will be conducted.
