The aim of this module is to introduce and apply the laws used in DC circuit analysis, provide a base for AC theory and to introduce the student to the basic components of electrical and electronic circuits that will provide a solid foundation for further study.

Circuit Theory: Charge, current, voltage and power. Resistors, capacitors and inductors. Ohms law, Kirchoff's laws, simplifing circuits. Functional operation of resistors, inductors and capacitors: theory behind how they work. Circuit laws
Electronic Components: Operation of LEDs, Transistors, BJT and Mosfets, operational amplifiers. Circuit application of each. Scientific principles underlying diodes, LEDs, transistors and Operational amplifiers
Alternating Current: Properties of sinewaves, RMS, phase shift and frequency. Waveforms in AC: Amplitude, phase shift, RMS, frequency and period
Alternating current circuits: Effect of Resistors, capacitors and inductors in AC circuits. Power and phase shift.
