Course Program

  • Characteristics of Electric User Installations in industrial, commercial, and service sectors;
  • Power Supply and Internal Distribution of electrical installations;
  • Large Electric Installations:

  1. Calculation of short-circuit currents including contributions from generators and motors
  2. Grounding systems for installations powered at medium voltage (MV) or high voltage (HV)

  • Elements of Systems for Electric Traction;
  • Electrical Efficiency Improvement
  • Management and Control of Industrial Installations:

  1. Load control;
  2. Self-generation control;
  3. Other management and control functions;

  • Logics and Applications of Hierarchical/Distributed Control:

  1. Use of automation devices (PLCs, microprocessors);
  2. Supervision and control systems (SCADA) in electric systems.

  • Integrated Design;
  • Energy Saving and Energy Efficiency;
  • National and European Regulatory Framework:

  1. Models and procedures
  2. Energy audits

  • Energy Efficiency Certificates (EECs / TEE in Italian):
  1. Procedures and regulations;
  2. The environmental market;
  3. Evaluation methods for EECs (ex-post and standardized);
  4. Practical examples.

  • Lighting Systems:
  1. Vision principles, photometric quantities, lamps, and fixtures;
  2. Methods and models for lighting design (indoor and outdoor, including roads and tunnels);
  3. Energy consumption in tunnel lighting systems;
  4. Models for energy efficiency and improving lighting performance.
