Description
Course program
  • Ideal and non-ideal power supply. 
  • Input and output (I/O) characteristics and applications in electrical systems for energy management. 
  • Switching converters for managing energy flows with the grid, including those for interfacing with photovoltaic systems (RES/GD), electric cars and charging stations. 
  • Notes on backup power systems and for safety services, such as storage systems and UPS. 
  • DC/AC converters for connecting direct current sources to loads or to the alternating current grid. 
  • Principles of operation, regulation, sizing and selection. 
  • Introduction to power quality and classification of disturbances, with attention to new issues related to sustainability and energy saving. 
  • Legislative provisions on electrical systems. 
  • Design criteria: project documentation, evaluation of the energy needs of loads, choice of system structure and sizing of conduits. 
  • Notes on power factor correction and earthing systems, system protection and electrical safety
