Engineering approaches for sustainable developments
805

Description
Engineering students are introduced to dealing with dynamic, sudden changes in the Earth system with its (planetary) boundaries, they learn to reflect on accompanying risks and to understand the contradictions and wicked problems of sustainable development as an engineering task. The dilemmas, contradictions, conflicting goals and disputes arising from the technical question of maximising use in a dynamic environment are reflected upon. Based on technical solutions to individual Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) of the United Nations, the resulting conflicts will be the focus of learning. For example, these can be the topics of energy and water, which are linked in terms of content, but are also contradictory.
