Aim and purpose of waste water treatment, history, water cycle, legal situation,
social significance Waste water technical parameters (wastewater quantities, wastewater constituents, pollutant loads) Waste water treatment in waste water treatment plants: process and simple dimensioning
- Mechanical waste water treatment (rake, grit chambers, primary clarification, flotation)
- Basics of biological wastewater treatment
- Purification processes for nitrogen (nitrification, denitrification)
- Phosphorus purification processes (Bio-P and precipitation)
- Trickling filter process, moving bed biofilm reactor process (dimensioning according to ATVDVWK A 281)
- Activation method, simplified design (DWA-A 131)
- Near-natural methods processes, wastewater ponds (DWA-A 201), soil filters (DWA-A 262)
- Basics of sludge treatment
Laboratory exercises: e.g. at the laboratory sewage treatment plant, activated sludge tests, degradation of organic pollutants
Excursion to a sewage treatment plant
