The aim of this course is to improve students’ background in economic theory and stimulate their critical thinking through comparison of schools of thought and discussion of different authors’ views.
Cognitive / Knowledge skills:
• Understand and manage the main theoretical tools examined;
• Manage and understand the basic assumptions, the structure and the main theoretical conclusions of the models analyzed and their implications in terms of economic policy measures;
• Understand the analytical notions and methodologies employed in the different approaches.
Analytical / Critical Thinking Skills:
• Explain in non-technical terms the fundamental economic intuitions associated with the alternative theories;
• Identify the assumptions, the logic and the economic policy suggestions of the different economic models;
• Provide a personal well-argued opinion on the appropriateness of the different approaches to interpret economic reality.
