Part I: Introduction The Global Economy: Globalization, population, income distribution, and trade patterns. Nations and Firms: Trade, multinationals, current and capital accounts, and international capital mobility.
Part II: International Competition Trade, Comparative Advantage, and Technology: Technology, factor abundance, competitiveness, and trade in open economies. Trade and Firm Competition: Intra-industry trade, monopolistic competition, firm heterogeneity. Firms and the Structure of Trade: International trade size, firm heterogeneity, multinationals, and global value chains. The Liability of Distance and Foreignness: The gravity model, transport costs, and challenges of foreign market entry.
