Digital technologies can transform industries, enable new organizational forms and influence the design of organizational processes as well as individual behaviour and relationships. This course provides students with design thinking and practical frameworks for understanding the opportunities and the risks provided by the diffusion and the adoption of innovative digital technologies. This course will present cases and practical examples of how digital innovation is transforming organizational systems and in class discussion will be focused on the analysis of potential organizational solutions. Particular attention will be paid on two domains: online collaboration (e.g. open source, crowdsourcing, distributed teams) and distributed coordination mechanisms (e.g. virtual currencies, blockchain, smart contracts).
