Description
Objectives
The aim of this course is to provide the students with the knowledge of the basic methods of detection and estimation theory, and to give them a basic understanding of radar systems and techniques.

Course program
Decision rules, risk functions and sufficient statistics. Decision principles: unbiasedness, Bayes, minimax, maximum likelihood (ML). Hypothesis testing, multiple decision problems, estimation. Introduction to radar systems. Detection of slowly fluctuating point targets. ML Delay and Doppler estimation: ambiguity function and Cramer-Rao bound. Swerling models. Pulse repetition frequency (PRF) staggering. Moving target indication (MTI) and pulse-Doppler radars. Clutter.
