Description
AIMS AND OBJECTIVES OF THE COURSE: Students shall develop and adopt linguistic knowledge and skills in the perceptive, reproductive and expositive activities / speaking and writing / in Bulgarian. Students shall accumulate basic lexical and phraseological vocabulary in the everyday communication context, and will also get acquainted with the specifics of Bulgarian culture, and behavioural and speech etiquette, which will facilitate their adaptation to the foreign language environment.
DESCRIPTION OF THE COURSE: The course introduces students to the Bulgarian graphic system and the prime words needed for mastering the basic syntactic rules for composing different sentence constructions by reading and writing. Then follow 6 tutorial topics that contain basic knowledge of Bulgarian for successful communication and quick adaptation to Bulgarian linguistic environment, as well as for introducing students to the particulars of academic communication and to commonly used and specific vocabulary and phraseology. Over 15 dialogues are proposed to represent dozens of everyday life and academic situations. The vocabulary in this course contains more than 1000 words, which are presented in thematic clusters, in the form of 'steps', facilitating the mastering and structuring of linguistic material, according to the grammar rules included in the specific lesson unit. The basic grammar of the Bulgarian language, necessary for the written and oral text exposition, is provided.
