Water resources management

Description
The main objective of the course is to provide the knowledge required to understand the concepts and application of water resources management methodologies. 

1 Introduction. The needs for water today. Integrated Water Resources Management (IWRM).

2. Linear programming / planning. Concepts, methods and applications. Problems of irrigation, transport and distribution of water, reservoir management, water quality and industrial production, energy production and water supply, flood management.

3. Dynamic Programming. Concepts, methods, applications to reservoir volume management and estimation problems.

4. Multi-Objective Optimization. Concepts, methods and applications to multi-purpose reservoir problems and water quality problems.

5. Fuzzy Logic. Concepts, methods and applications in problems of water distribution, reservoir storage, water quality management.

6. Multi-criteria analysis. Concepts, methods and application to a multi-reservoir water supply problem.
