Water Supply Networks I
CIV_443

Description
Introduction to water supply and water quality. Needs and demand for water. Water abstraction works. Water supply projects in Cyprus. Hydraulics of closed and open pipes and channels. External aqueduct: calculation facilities, general layout, transport projects, pipelines and technical works, pumping stations and tanks. Internal aqueduct: general layout, piezometric line, use of pressure reducers, minimum pressure control. Mathematical models for the design of water supply networks: layout design, dimensioning and calculations.

Introduction and urban water supply network projects in Cyprus. Closed pressure pipes. Flow characterization. Linear and local energy losses. Determination of friction coefficient. Main problems of closed-circuit hydraulics (H-Q-D). Pipelines in series and parallel pipes. Pumps in water supply network in operation. Exterior and interior aqueduct. Design - Determination of node supply. Dimensioning and analysis of of internal aqueduct water supply networks. Water demand. External aqueduct sections (dimensioning and analysis).
