Description
AIMS AND OBJECTIVES OF THE COURSE: To teach students the basic approaches and methods in the design of machine elements and generally applicable mechanisms.
DESCRIPTION OF THE COURSE: The main topics concern: Design methodology. Design for static and for fatigue loading. Strength and failure analyses. Design of mechanical components and joints of common use such as: keys, splines, pins, rivets, threaded fasteners, press joints, welded joints, springs, shafts, axles, bearings, couplings, gears. Fits, tolerances, orientation and position errors, and roughness. Interchangeability.
