Description
AIMS AND OBJECTIVES OF THE COURSE: After completion of the course "Mechanics I" and passing the
exam, students should be able to implement into engineering practice the basic axioms, laws and
methods of statics and kinematics. These are prerequisites to form into them the engineering approach
to design machines and equipment.
DESCRIPTION OF THE COURSE: The course includes:
Concurrent system of forces: reduction and equilibrium; Moment of a force about a point and about an
axis: System of forces: reduction and equilibrium; Center of gravity and centroid; Supports and support
reactions; Friction; Kinematics of a particle; Kinematics of rigid bodies; Simple motions of a rigid body;
Kinematics of the plane motion of a rigid body; Kinematics of the relative motion of a particle.
