The study course explores advanced materials and biomaterials mechanics, properties and use in contemporary medical and defence applications. To explain the compatibility of host organism and material, human body motion is explained using laws of mechanics. Special attention put to long-term strength calculations and modelling of biotextiles using finite element method (FEM) computer software, where students learn to create deformable body models to determine strain and stress to evaluate strength and durability.
