Objectives
The course covers the aspects related to the design, execution and control of shallow and deep foundations, support works and land consolidation interventions. The first part illustrates the general legislative aspects of geotechnical design. For each type of work, therefore, executive technologies are described with the aid of teaching material and, when possible with guided technical visits. The theoretical analysis of the mechanical behavior is carried out with reference both to the limit conditions and to those in operation. In this regard, a part of the course is dedicated to the constitutive modeling of land aimed at setting up calculation schemes with the aid of computerized codes. Parallel to the carrying out of the lessons with theoretical content, the students are asked to perform some exercises aimed at the sizing and verification of the foundations with the aid of numerical calculation methods, from time to time introduced for the different types of analysis.
