The aim of the subject is to introduce modern forms and methodologies of organising mechanical engineering technology. The student acquires the skills to identify inefficient processes in a manufacturing company and to find solutions to them.
Production planning and organisation are becoming increasingly important in engineering technology today. The subject covers LEAN or lean manufacturing technology, its principles, history and development. Toyota Production Systems and their application in manufacturing companies are covered. LEAN methodologies such as the 7 Ways to Waste, Kaizen, 6 Sigma, Jidoka, etc. are covered in detail. Workshops are developed, including analysis of problem situations. In addition, the TRIZ system and its application to non-standard problem solving are discussed.
