Wireless Communications
EEN 446

Description
Course Purpose and Objectives

First introduction in the technological field of wireless communications

Learning Outcomes

Basic knowledge in the technological field of wireless communications

Course Content

Wireless communications is considered as one of the fastest growing technologies. A series of wireless communication systems, and in particular cellular systems, have had a dramatic influence in shaping the society of today. In the near future, new systems like wireless ad-hoc networks, wireless sensor networks and the Internet of Things are expected to have a significant impact on our daily lives. This course is a first introduction in the technological field of wireless communications. The course will cover a wide range of subjects including the basic principles, design and performance analysis of cellular systems, the modeling of radio propagation in the wireless channel and multiple access techniques (FDMA, TDMA, CDMA). Emphasis will be placed not so much on the description of the different technologies, but to the basic principles that are expected to continue to hold in the (relatively) distant future.
