Module Overview
The aim of this module is to identify the requirements of good building practice and equip the student with an ability to document and detail non-complex structural elements.
This second year module reviews traditional and modern methods of construction and materials in use in the industry. It introduces the Building Regulations in relation to construction detailing.
The student learns to detail the various elements of construction in compliance with Building Regulation requirements. The student is also introduced to the use of proprietary 3D modelling software to document building structures.
The module introduces the student to structural detailing. The student progresses through the application of standard methods of detailing for both reinforced concrete and steelwork elements.
Understanding of construction is developed through detail drawing.
