Concrete Technology
CBEH 2102

Description
This module identifies the requirements of good building practice and in particular concrete practice.
To enable the student to explain, describe, carry out, and report on the main laboratory tests relating to the use of concrete. In the concrete laboratory portion of this module the student performs a range of tests on aggregate, cement and concrete samples and produces a detailed written report on each test. Sustainability in design and material selection will also be discussed and students will calculate how much embodied carbon exists in concrete.
Indicative Syllabus
 Cements and cementitious materials, aggregates for concrete, concrete mix design, properties of fresh and hardened concrete, specification testing and compliance, concrete site practice,
formwork and falsework, durability of concrete, inspection, testing and repair. Embodied Carbon calculaltions. Three laboratory sessions.
